Tallest mountain in Britain

Snowdon IS THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN WALES AND IN THE BRITISH ISLES SOUTH OF SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS STANDING AT 1085 M (3560 FT) ABOVE SEA LEVEL. THE PEAK IS LOCATED IN THE SNOWDONIA NATIONAL PARK OF GWYNEDD AREA OF NORTHWESTERN WALES.

The mountain is established as part of the national natural reserve for its unique nature. It was formed by the volcanic rocks in the Ordovician period (485.4 - 443.8 million years ago) and glaciation periods resulting in its pyramidal peak. The cliffs are rather steep and, thus, are perfect for rock climbing trainings.

The peak can be reached using one of the numerous paths leading to it, as well as by Snowdon Mountain Railway that carries passengers to the very summit for some 7.6 lm (4.7 mi) in total. The mountain is an extremely popular climbing and tourist destination. The ones who accomplish the ascent are greeted to a café Hafod Eryri situated on the top of the mountain and operating since 1930s.
