Occasionally I make some videos of hikes or climbs (knee permitting), paddles in my packraft and canoe, reviews or some feature videos of places I go. I have also made a number of micro-adventure videos. Below is a selection of the more popular ones divided by category, but you can see all of my videos on The Armchair Mountaineer YouTube channel.
CANOE & PACKRAFT trips
TESLIN & YUKON RIVERS (CANADA)
In June 2025 I joined a group expedition on the Teslin and Yukon Rivers in Canada, over 9 days. In total we paddled around 360kms from Johnson's Crossing to Carmacks, via the confluence of the Teslin and the Yukon rivers at Hootalinqua in what is a genuinely remote region of the world.
TAMIŠ RIVER (SERBIA)
In July 2020 I packrafted down the River Tamiš in Serbia, between Sakule and Pančevo. The section I did is probably something over 60 kms although I did not track it. This was after a wet spring and early summer so water levels were really high and there was a fair bit of flooding, which made finding a spot to camp hard.
RIVER WYE (UK)
In early July 2019 I spent a Friday and Saturday canoeing down the Wye with my 7 year old daughter, from Hoarwithy to Symonds Yat. It is the first time either of us has done this kind of trip and to share this adventure together was the sort of experience that makes me go all mushy and emotional [read more]

RANDOM STUFF
Gear Review
Kammok sent me their All in One Mantis Hammock System and I just spent the weekend in Scotland and had the opportunity to sleep in the hammock on an island in Loch Lomond.
The Kammok Mantis is great for this kind of trip and compares favourably with other shelters in terms of size and weight. It was easy to put an comfortable to sleep in but takes some getting used to to find the angle to sleep and also the appropriate insulation underneath you [read more].
