MOUNT BALDY IS HOW THIS MOUNTAIN IS CALLED BY THE LOCALS, BUT IT’S MORE RECOGNIZABLE NAME IS MOUNT SAN ANTONIO. AT 3069 METRES (10,068 FT) IT IS THE HIGHEST POINT OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY AND THE HIGHEST PEAK OF THE SAN GABRIEL MOUNTAINS. IT GOT THE NAME BALDY BECAUSE THERE ARE NO TREES AROUND THE SUMMIT. THAT PEAK IS DIVIDING SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY AND LOS ANGELES COUNTY.
You can see the peak on the Los Angeles skyline when the days are clear and sometimes it is snow-lined. It has a number of accessible trails. The mountain is a part of the Angeles National Forest.
