RYSY IS THE MOUNTAIN LYING ON THE BORDER BETWEEN POLAND AND SLOVAKIA IN THE HIGH TATRA MOUNTAINS. THE MOUNTAIN HAS 3 PEAKS WITH THE NORTHWESTERN ONE LYING ON THE TERRITORY OF POLAND AND STANDING AT 2499 M (8199 FT) ABOVE SEA LEVEL.

Rysy provides a relatively easy climb even for individual visitors on foot and doesn’t require to have a mountain guide or any special technical skills or equipment. It is possible to ascend the summit from both Polish and Slovak side, however, the Polish route is a much more difficult and challenging one, due to steep slopes and rocks.

The most popular path lies on the Slovak side, it is open during the summer season and closed throughout winter. The first documented ascent took place in 1840 when Ede Blásy and Ján Ruman-Driečny, Sr. have reached the mountain’s summit. The peak offers one of the most splendid and extensive panoramas in the Tatra Mountain Range.
