half dome is a granite dome, famous for its shape, located at the east end of the yosemite valley in yosemite national park of the sierra nevada mountain range, in northern california, usa.  

Half Dome, as is the whole Yosemite Valley, is a very popular spot for climbers, and the most recent notable ascent of the Dome was made by Alex Honnold when he free soloed its Northwest Face in 2008.
