I am on a plane to Iceland to see the northern lights so I am skipping a regular post this coming weekend. I will probably publish a cranky post about not seeing the northern lights in a week's time, but in the meantime here is an event which caught my eye and seems to reflect perfectly what this blog is about.
Mind over Mountains - 5-7 MAY 2018
Brought to you by Adventure Uncovered and led by the remarkable Alex Staniforth, Mind Over Mountains is an event which focuses on the connection between mental wellbeing and hillwalking.
For me time spent in the hills, mountains and generally in the honest embrace of nature is an unquantifiable tonic. It has helped me to re-balance my life and to look after my mental health in the last couple if years.
Mental Wellbeing and hillwalking
Sadly I cannot be there, but Mind Over Mountains seems like an amazing opportunity to step away from the hustle and bustle of life, perhaps assess where your life is heading and re-connect with the hills. It's in a fabulous Lake District setting and will place you in the company of some truly passionate experts.
In their own words:
"With places limited to 20, Mind Over Mountains is a laid-back weekend of walking and talking this Spring, with plans to summit two of the Lake District National Park’s best-loved mountains (Skiddaw and Blencathra) and explore the local environment with a few surprises along the way. Curated by us and led by Alex Staniforth, this weekend is a unique, one-off opportunity not to be missed!
‘Mind Over Mountains’ aims to promote the benefits of UK mountains for mental and physical health, when 1 in 4 people in the UK now experience a mental health problem. By climbing mountains, we can put our minds over mountains – no pressure, no expectations, no worries!"
Places are limited so I guess it makes sense to snap them up whilst you can. Find out more here.
